In FY12, the solutions for GCDS transitioned to the DISN Subscription Service (DSS) which enables GCDS to become a standard service provided by DISA to DoD Partners. As such, GCDS costs are minimal and applied as a one-time fee.

WEB APPLICATION DELIVERY
As DoD organizations turn increasingly to Web Applications as a primary means of exchanging information, the expectations for speed, reliability and interactivity grow. While dynamically-generated content offers an unprecedented opportunity to engage with end users, rendering pages on the fly can lead to delays and even failures in delivering content. >> Learn More
GCDS NetStorage is a secure, DoD enterprise storage in the cloud solution that eases the burdens associated with data storage. NetStorage consists of multiple terabytes of storage capacity, geographical distribution/replication, and a massively scalable architecture. GCDS HD Streaming is a high-performance, scalable, DoD enterprise solution that eases the burdens associated with streaming Flash video. The GCDS HD platform combines the power of GCDS's adaptive bit rate streaming capabilities for Adobe Flash with the performance and reach of the GCDS edge servers. This means content flows over a single network that delivers HD video with the fastest throughput rate to provide a great experience.
If you use the DISN for anything - to download the latest security patches, check webmail on DKO/AKO, view information on AKO/NKO/GCSS-AF portals, support decision making on NSLDSS, or analyze geospatial data dynamically on multiple NGA systems – you've leveraged the Global Content Delivery Service (GCDS) without even realizing it.
GCDS leverages commercial Internet technology and best practices to accelerate the delivery of DoD Web content and applications across the NIPRNet, SIPRNet, and CX-I. GCDS’ global platform of hundreds of specially-equipped servers helps the DISN withstand the crush of daily requests for rich, dynamic, and interactive content, transactions, and applications. When delivering on these requests, GCDS detects and avoids DISN problem spots and vulnerabilities to ensure mission critical software downloads flawlessly, and applications perform reliably.
Additional GCDS Benefits:
- Improve delivery of mission content to Warfighters globally
- Capacity on-demand to meet peak loads – without added IT infrastructure
- Increase user adoption by improving user experience and minimizing response times
- Reduce infrastructure costs, while meeting mission requirements
- Receive top notch 24x7 service and support from commercial and government experts
Who Needs GCDS?
DoD Web Sites, Web-Based Applications and Video Streams …
- With end users on the NIPRNet and/or SIPRNet and/or CX-I
- Where speed and reliability are paramount in the criticality of the organization's missions
- At the command level who need to get actionable information to the soldiers, sailors and airman quickly and efficiently
- Who need to scale on-demand for peak loads, during both expected (e.g., promotion lists, commander's briefings) and unexpected events (e.g., Japan Tsunami)
Is GCDS Accredited?
GCDS is fully accredited with an Authority to Operate (ATO) on NIPRNet, SIPRNet and CX-I.
