05/08/2017 Lynn discusses evolving DOD’s information infrastructure

As DISA looks at evolving the infrastructure, there are a number of initiatives that are under consideration.

“We are trying to cut wire networks and legacy networks out of the DODIN,” said Army LTG Alan Lynn, DISA director and commander of Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Networks. “It is an additional expense and technology is past it. We are trying to come to the 21st century. We cannot afford to keep having more and more older systems.”

04/06/2017 DISA system improves access to, quality of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance video

The Unified Video Dissemination System (UVDS) enables members of the global U.S. intelligence community to view live full-motion video feeds -- collected by manned and unmanned aerial platforms -- in high fidelity and without imagery dropout, ultimately improving situational awareness, enabling decision-making, and improving commanders’ ability to ensure the safety of troops.

03/30/2017 Workforce accomplishments recognized during DISA and JFHQ-DODIN annual awards ceremony

DISA and Joint Force Headquarters – DOD Information Networks (JFHQ-DODIN) held their annual awards ceremony March 30 at DISA headquarters.

Employees around the world gathered in-person and virtually to recognize military and civilian individuals and teams for their outstanding achievements during the 2016 calendar year.

03/30/2017 Symposium provides women-owned small businesses advice, networking opportunities

More than 65 women-owned small businesses (WOSB) took part in an event hosted by the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Office of Small Business Programs at the agency’s Headquarters on Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, March 24.

The symposium, titled “Business Smart, Business Savvy: Women Boldly Blazing Brilliant Solutions,” provided an opportunity for attendees to learn about the basic requirements to do business with the federal government, what WOSBs need to do to get noticed by government agencies, and how teaming up with large-to-mid-sized businesses can benefit them.

03/29/2017 New cyber assessment program focuses on operational risk

A new cyber assessment program, known as a Command Cyber Operational Readiness Inspection (CCORI), focuses on providing combatant commands and federal agencies with a greater understanding of the operational risk their missions face because of their cybersecurity posture.

03/28/2017 Training sessions offer guidance for DISN connection approval process

Live and recorded trainings are available for DOD and non-DOD entities seeking to establish, re-accredit, or re-certify their connections to the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN). Mission partners are provided with the policy and process information needed to reduce or eliminate processing delays caused by inaccurate or incomplete information.

02/21/2017 VADM Samuel L. Gravely: DCA director a trailblazer for African Americans in the U.S. military

Navy VADM Samuel L. Gravely, Jr. served in the U.S. Navy for 38 years and was an integral part of the desegregation of the U.S. Armed Forces. Gravely’s last tour of duty was as the director of the Defense Communications Agency (DCA) — now the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) — from September 1978 through July 1980.
