Weekly meetings offer dialogue regarding emerging technologies

Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs), which provide a forum for open dialog between representatives from industry, academia, DOD, and federal agencies, take place every Friday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.

The main goal of these meetings, which are co-hosted by the Defense Information Systems Agency and the DOD Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), is to exchange technical information regarding current and emerging technologies, while increasing participants’ knowledge of emerging technical solutions, leveraging best practices, and discussing lessons learned.

Topics include computing services, unified capabilities, network operations, networking, cybersecurity, and mobility.

“The Technical Exchange Meetings are an exceptional opportunity for DISA and other federal agencies to collaborate with industry on new technologies, industry best practices, and technology challenges,” said James “Rik-I” Barbour, director of DISA’s Innovation and Technology Office. “The TEMs serve as one of our main sources of exposure to emerging technologies we expect to leverage to fill our capability gaps.”

The forums are instrumental to the evolution of the DISA and DOD CIO strategic visions, technology forecast, and technology assessment and implementation planning, said Barbour.
