DISA Chief of Staff (Acting)
Christopher S. Argo is the acting chief of staff for the Defense Information Systems Agency.
In this role, he helps lead and direct a global organization of over 20,000 military, civilian and contractor personnel who plan, develop, deliver and operate joint, interoperable, command and control, and global enterprise infrastructure in direct support of the president, secretary of defense, Joint Chiefs of Staff, combatant commanders, Department of Defense components and other mission partners across the full spectrum of operations.
He previously served as the director for the agency’s Defense Spectrum Organization where he was responsible for developing comprehensive and integrated spectrum plans and long-term strategies to address current and future needs for global, Department of Defense spectrum access.
Prior to serving as DSO director, Argo served as the assistant deputy chief of staff, G-6 for Command, Control, Communications and Computers/Cyber Directorate, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Before entering the Senior Executive Service, he served at U.S. Africa Command as the deputy J6 for C4 Systems, and the coalition/interoperability division chief.
Having completed more than 31 years of service in the U.S. Army, with 18 years in special operations and airborne units, Argo completed his final assignment as the outreach and interagency director for the J9, USAFRICOM. He commanded units at every level including serving as the J6 director, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida
He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and his master’s degree in national security and strategic studies from U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.
