DISA Chief of Staff
Teresa Pitts is the Chief of Staff for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). She is responsible for coordinating the efforts of an organization with more than 8,000 members and the management of a $10 billion budget. She directs staff efforts to provide effective global command, control and combat support systems for the president, secretary of defense, combatant commanders, joint staff, military departments and combat support agencies.
Ms. Pitts previously served as the Civilian Deputy for the Operations Center, DISA. She provided, coordinated, and synchronized capabilities and services that were always available, reliable and secure in support of the DOD Information Network (DODIN). She also assisted with the delivery and operation of secure worldwide enterprise information technology services enabling the efficient and effective execution of DISA’s global combat support missions.
Ms. Pitts also served as the White House Communications Agency (WHCA) Chief of Staff and evaluated policies and directives from White House Military Office (WHMO), OSD, DISA, White House Staff, US Secret Service and Congress, and advised on actions necessary to establish the framework of command policy. In this capacity, she also provided for the control, coordination and continuity of policies and programs by working with key staff in developing plans for facilities, funding, personnel, equipment, contracts, security and other agency requirements.
A native of Nebraska, Ms. Pitts entered the Air Force in 1988 after receiving her commission through the ROTC program and graduating from New Mexico State University. Ms. Pitts has 30 years of experience in operations and staff leadership positions, with background in providing senior executive support for policy and oversight of DOD aviation, Airborne Warning and Control combating weapons of mass destruction, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
Ms. Pitts has a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces and a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies from Air University on Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama.
