The roles and responsibilities for the SBU Voice are clearly defined in DOD’s voice services policy documents, DODI 8100.04 and CJCSI 6211.02D.
The following summaries are provided:
DISA is responsible as the Single Service Manager of SBU Voice to include management oversight, system design, networking functionality (routing and numbering plan), interoperaibility, Information Assurance (IA), and system performance. These responsibilities are primarily focused on the long-haul and inter-base aspects of Network Management.
The DOD components are responsible for the more localized aspects of the network in order to actually provide the services to the users by procuring, operating, and maintaining the telecom switches (on the Approved Products List [APL]) at the Base/Post/Camp/Station (BPCS).
