Primary examples of benefits include bandwidth savings across the DISN (typically 70%+), reductions in satellite transmissions, reduced data center infrastructure costs in servers and software licenses (typically 50-70%+), and application performance improvement to the warfighters (3-10x) even for highly secure and transactional systems.

U.S. NAVY CHIEF OF INFORMATION
NIPR GCDS Integration Completed in a Record of 6 Hours to Support the Japan Earthquake Relief Efforts
CHINFO is the Navy’s Public Affairs website providing Navy leadership and others interested around the fleet with a one-stop page of existing public affairs materials available to assist them in their communication planning and outreach activities. The Navy Visual News Service site supports the U.S. Navy Office of Information, providing still and video products to national and international media outlets, DoD agencies, and other federal agencies. The Navy Visual News Service organization is the Navy's primary point of contact for requests by major media for U.S. Navy visual information products.
As a result of seeing the benefits of being on the GCDS platform firsthand, the CHINFO organization decided to add three more applications to GCDS.
The major pain point for these web applications is latency and availability. Today, the site leverages the NIPRNet GCDS Web Application Delivery for faster performance to its user communities, including
