DISA’s Enterprise Collaboration Tool Is Finalist for Excellence.gov Award
The Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA’s) Defense Connect Online (DCO) is a finalist for a 2013 Excellence.gov Award presented by the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC). The awards will be presented on March 5.
In 2001, ACT-IAC established the Excellence.Gov Awards program to recognize best practices in the government's management and use of information technology assets.
From more than 130 nominations, ACT-IAC selected 25 finalists — five finalists in each of five categories.
DCO is a finalist in the Excellence in Intergovernmental Collaboration category. This category recognizes programs that were designed and/or operated with close cooperation and coordination between different levels of government.
The DCO service is the designated Department of Defense (DoD) enterprise tool for worldwide synchronous and asynchronous collaboration for both the Sensitive but Unclassified Internet Protocol (IP) Data Service (formerly known as NIPRNet) and the Secret IP Data Service (formerly known as SIPRNet. DCO is a free service provided to all DoD partners, allowing users to communicate and share information in a secure forum through the use of instant messaging, low-bandwidth text chat, and audio/video Web conferencing.
“ACT-IAC is once again honored to provide a premiere forum for recognizing the exceptional work being done and the value being delivered through government programs,” said Dale Luddeke, IAC Chair.
“In each instance, the finalists have inspired us all to seek new, innovative, and collaborative ways to approach the most challenging areas of mission and business needs and to achieve ever greater levels of service and efficiency,” he said.
