MISSION
To provide a commercial, open-standards, interoperable, common platform Internet protocol (IP) modem that ensures efficient use of bandwidth and secure transmission of Ethernet over IP via Department of Defense (DoD)-leased and DoD-owned Transponded Satellite Communication Systems in support of the warfighter.
FUNCTIONS
- Joint Internet Protocol Modem (JIPM) program management office is responsible for the acquisition, program management, and delivery of a certified Joint IP Remote Modem and Network Control Centers.
- Communication focal point between stakeholders, including Project Manager, Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems; DISA Global Information Grid Enterprise Services Engineering; DISA Test and Evaluation Office; Program Executive Office for Satellite Communications, Teleport, and Services; Teleport Program Office; Global Broadcast Service; National Security Agency (NSA); Assistant Secretary of Defense for Networks and Information Integration; Joint Staff Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Systems; and other organizations, ensuring timely and accurate completion of deliverables.
- Create, update, and disseminate, when approved, the integrated master plan, including cost/schedule/performance and risk.
- Provide management and execution oversight of JIPM resources, risks, and requirements.
- Coordinate specification requirements, certification details, evaluation criteria, evaluation participation, design approval, and participation in reviews and obtain final certification with NSA for transmission security requirements.
- Provide information assurance accreditation efforts for JIPM components.
- Review test strategies and provide guidance and support for advocating agile test and evaluation (T&E) processes to shape T&E planning, improve collaboration, reduce testing redundancy, and speed the delivery of effective and suitable capabilities to the warfighter.
